The powder used contains calcium carbonate rather than ordinary baking soda, which delivers active calcium ions to the enamel surface, reduces tooth sensitivity, and prevents irritation of the oral mucosa after the procedure. This is followed by polishing with special brushes and silicone cups with polishing paste.
Professional cleaning through tartar removal and root surface smoothing prevents plaque buildup. This in turn prevents chronic inflammation that can eventually lead to tooth loss.
